Prioritising self-care to avoid burning out!

It's very common for women to feel overwhelmed by pressures of everyday life. Many of us juggle numerous responsibilities, from work and family to social obligations, which can leave us feeling stressed and burnt out. 

And as women, we often put a lot of pressure on ourselves to prove that we can 'have it all' and meet societal expectations as well as our own. I have personally fallen in this trap and this is why I am extremely passionate about empowering women and helping them prioritise physical and mental wellness.

Stress management is becoming increasingly important in today's fast-paced world. Here are some effective strategies you can incorporate into your routine, to help you manage stress and promote well-being. 

 

1. Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep-breathing exercises, are excellent tools for cultivating a sense of calm and presence amidst the chaos. You can do this throughout your day, between meetings or tasks. Close your eyes for 5 minutes and focus on deep breathing. There are lots of apps available to help you, if you prefer guided meditation. Insight timer is one of my personal favourites. 

 

2. Incorporate active movement into your routine

You don't have to spend hours at the gym, you can choose your favourite activity and fit it in around your schedule. It can be a 10 minute yoga practice or a walk at lunchtime. Physical movement has lots of benefits on your physical and mental health and will help you be even more productive in your day. 

 

 

3. Build in self-care rituals

Self-care isn't selfish. It's necessary for your wellbeing and will help you be an even better version of yourself. Take some time out to do some activities you love, whether it's reading a book, taking a warm bath or indulging in a hobby. Put the 'oxygen mask' on yourself first, so you can help others.
