Honouring the Strength of Women Worldwide: International Women's Day 2024 - Natalia's Journey

Q: Tell us about when & how your fitness journey began.

A: I've always been an active person. Since I was 4 years old, I was obsessed with gymnastics and as a teenager I loved martial arts. However when I moved out of home, I stopped exercising due to various circumstances. Almost 10 years later, I decided to make a radical change in my life as I was facing depression. My psychologist encouraged me to engage in outdoor activities which led me to embark on a 90-day fitness challenge. Two months later, I felt happier, lighter and more toned, with an 8kg weight-loss. It was a physically and emotionally life-changing journey that brought me back to life.

Q: What is your favourite physical activity and why?

A: I love functional strength exercises like martial arts or yoga. I never really liked cardio until I discovered Kangoo Jumps! I love it because it combines intense sweating with constant dancing. As a Latina, I have a passion for dancing and Kangoo Jumps is a fantastic way to get in a cardio workout while having fun. Every class is so enjoyable and you can easily burn 600 calories in one session!

Q: Where are you at today in your health & fitness journey and how has this impacted your life?

A: I can't exercise everyday because of typical life commitments. But I I make sure to do my Kangoo Jumps and yoga at least three times a week. On the off days, I am to walk at least 10,000 steps. Being a 41 year old woman, I believe it's crucial to stay active, especially as your body changes and slows down with age. Regular exercise allows me to maintain my health & feel younger!

Q: What are your tips for busy women who are the beginning of their health & fitness journey?

A: There are no secrets to achieving a healthy lifestyle. As an Integrative Health Practitioner and someone who works with aesthetic treatments everyday, here's my advice: Ensure you get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Follow an anti-inflammatory diet and incorporate movement into every day. Walk 10,000 steps daily. This will have a positive impact on your life in many ways!
