Honouring the Strength of Women Worldwide: International Women's Day 2024 - Mali's Journey
Q: Tell us about when & how your fitness journey began.
A: I started my fitness journey when I left my family and came to Australia alone to study, 10 years ago. That time was challenging and stressful and fitness helped me to relax and meet new friends.
Q: What is your favourite physical activity and why?
A: Running & walking. Simple and fun. I can do it anytime, anywhere.
Q: Where are you at today in your health & fitness journey and how has this impacted your life?
A: I started to explore Pilates when I was pregnant last year. Unlike running, it promotes mobility and strength of all the major muscle groups in the body in a balanced fashion, whilst also having a key focus on the deep core muscles. It is challenging for me but I love it!
Q: What are your tips for busy women who are the beginning of their health & fitness journey?
A: Every minute counts. Ideally we can lock some time in our daily schedule. However, in reality every minutes counts - a 5 minute meditation, a 15 minute Zumba dance. Don't feel worried if you can't commit everyday a long as you start with a small step today. Health and fitness is a lifelong journey.
